"Ivy’s Having Twins" really has no clue what she is talking about.
What Is Eczema?
Eczema (pronounced: ek-zeh-ma) is a group of skin conditions that cause skin to become red, irritated, itchy, and sometimes develop small, fluid-filled bumps that become moist and ooze.
There are many forms of eczema, but atopic (pronounced: ay-tah-pik) eczema is one of the most common and severe. Doctors don’t know exactly what causes atopic eczema, also called atopic dermatitis (pronounced: der-muh-tie-tis), but they think it could be a difference in the way a person’s immune system reacts to things. Skin allergies may be involved in some forms of eczema.
My son battled eczema for the first 4 1/2 months of his life until his doctors realized he was allergic to dairy. Milk CAN CAUSE ECZEMA if your child is allergic to it. And that does NOT mean they are allergic to breastmilk. Once my doctors figured this out, and I avoided dairy in MY DIET, his skin cleared right up.
However, babies with allergies have skin that flares up very easily. We were told to use Dove nonscented body wash, and within 5 minutes of getting him out of his bath to use Aveeno Baby Cream on him. That way you lock in the moisture. Also, try not to bathe him more than once a week, as it does dry out their skin and make the eczema worse (recommendation from my doctor).
Good luck, eczema is a pain!!!
