What is a good otc treatment for eczema?

I’ve already tired moisterizers, hyrocortzone, and prescription creams, but they don’t always work the best when the problem is on my hands and I have to use my hands everyday.

Balneum bath oil is really helpful and can be bought OTC but I have never found any effective OTC creams. I get dermovate and betnovate prescribed.
I don’t know about OTC – I have heard that Sarna makes a cream especially for eczema. I have personally tried to use Eucerin, Lubriderm and Aquaphor on my son who has had it since birth on nearly all of his body. The only thing that helps him is the prescription cream, Elidel and it’s expensive.

That’s a tough question. "They" claim that 2/3 of eczema is from contact dermatitis which can be caused by a lot of things. I had contact dermatitis that they were treating for poison ivy. This went on for months . It would get better in the weekends and worse during the week. I finally got my regular doctor to refer me to an allergist who said I had contact dermatitis from the oil I was using at work. You would have thought the dermatologist would have caught that, but now I was so allergic to it that I had boils all over my body. I to change jobs, after being a machinist for years.
The allergist diagnosed it immediately where the dermatologist just had me coming back and getting worse. I took a couple prednisone tablets and felt great because it stopped the immune response; but that was only for testing… Do Not just go on steroids. Good luck.
I’ve had eczema since I was six and last yr. it really started going crazy, I had huge outbreaks on my arms, legs, almost everywhere and it looked awful. I’d tried almost everything from prescriptions, to lotions, creams and nothing worked. Until someone told me they used Palmer’s cocoa butter lotion as well as the spray on Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula for Dry Itchy Skin, Soothing Oil. At first I was skeptical but after a few days the little raised bumps started peeling off and after about a month it went away. That’s so much quicker than other things I’ve used which usually took 3 or 4 months and sometimes didn’t heal the eczema all the way, and the best part is when it healed I didn’t have a mark or scar left over like I usually do.
When I used it my skin itched really badly then, so I used it like 3 or 4 times a day, and when I was out I’d used a cocoa butter stick. Make sure to apply often and to not scratch and it’s going to work. And it’s really worth a shot because it’s so cheap. Good luck.
