When my son was about 4 months old i took him to the doctor and he said he has baby eczema and that it will go away. He is now almost 7 months old and it just doesn’t seem to be going away. The doctor gave us some fatty cream and some Aqueous cream.
Is there anything else that anyone could recommend?

My 9 month old was diagnosed a few weeks ago, she had it horribly around her midriff. I assume he’s on solids? I found that the main culprit was citrus fruits, as soon as I cut them from her diet, the worst of it went (and I mean she only had teeny tiny patches occasionally now). It’s often triggered by something eaten or something on his skin, so I would look into what you’re using.
Clothes – have you tried another detergent? Some can be more irritating than others. Be sure it’s non-bio and I also recommend putting on an extra rinse cycle to be sure to get rid of soapy build-up.
Food – you might want to try keeping a food diary and get a better idea of what’s affecting him. Was he on solids when it first arrived? If he had just started, there’s a good indication there.
Skin products – some work better for some and not for others. I’m not sure where you are, but my recommendations are UK products so I hope it can help in some way. I was prescribed Hydromol which I didn’t like, it didn’t seem to help on her skin – BUT it did help when in the bath. I put a few squirts in the stop her skin from drying out, it really helped. I found Oilatum the best for my daughter, but E45 was a good alternative too. That way, you can carry a little tube in your bag. Apply this regularly – like every couple of hours. I would avoid all other skin products such as baby lotion of baby bath, they don’t help – in fact, they usually aggravate the condition.
My 2nd child now 22months old boy, broke out in what we thought was eczema, anyways so we took him to the doctors and they comfirmed with us that is what he had.
Cut a long story short, it wasnt at all what he had he was overly sensitive to the washing liquid we were using for the washing. So we tried about 4 different ones before we found one that didnt react with him. And still to this day if we use a towel or clothes that havent been washed in this washing liquid (Purity) he starts to brake out in a slight rash.
If the creams are not working then give it a go changing the washing liquid… it cant hurt.
But my son broke out really badly he almost looked scarred up from the rash.
Good luck with it all.
All the other comments covered most things. Also check what you bath him with, a big culprit is also Sodium Laureth Sulphate, my daughter got a big rash up her thigh, I changed bathwash to a non chemical one and it went away in 2 days. Our house is now pretty much chemical free in our bathrooms.
Good ole fashion olive oil. Try Mustela line of products. That is what we use and it is the best. DO NOT use Johnson and Johnson it dries the skin to much. Also try shea butter.
