What are the causes eczema?

I just wondered if anyone knew what causes it? It’s obviously not contagious, so I wondered if it’s just a reaction to things or if it was genetic or something? I have it, but only after going in a swimming pool that I’m not used to, so I think it’s a reaction to the chlorine, but my dad has is aswell, constantly.
Just curious (: thanksss x

Stresses and worry can cause excema to flare up and become worse.. This happens to me when ever I am worried or stressed I know because my eczema comes back…
Also, irritations to creams, Shampoo’s, Washing powders, and sugary foods such as coke and sweets etc all can triger my eczema- The shampoo and washingpowder is almost an allergic reaction, but it’s just becuase my skin is so sensetive.
Chlorine definatly brings out my eczema so chances are that’s what it is- Our family friends have a swimming pool and unfortunatly in the summer I dont go in it becuase I know it will make my eczema worse, but there are so many good creams that you can get to make it go away.
Hope this is of help.
Stress does for sure!
some people get it because of an allergy, my daughter used to get it alot after swimming but then started using oilatum shower gel after swimming and it worked wonders. It hydrates the skin which really keeps the eczema down.
Hello,
My son had dreadful eczema and the chlorine in the swimming pool can definitely make it worse.
You could try to wash yourself with unscented soap in the shower straight after and then liberally apply Grape seed oil, which you can buy for about £1.50 for a 500ml bottle in any supermarket. It is normally used for cooking, so you will find it with the other cooking oils, but unlike other oils it doesn’t smell at all. I used it for my son and his skin was lovely and soft after that.
I hope this helps.
