I suppose it depends on what is causing it. I had almost unbearable itching the last few summers that I couldn’t resist scratching. The doctor said it was caused by dry skin – he said to shower less frequently, use a milder soap (Dove), and use Lubiderm, a lotion developed by dermatologists. It seems to have worked. Also, stay out of the sun and avoid scratching, which makes it worse. I had no idea dry skin could itch like that. See "atopic eczema", related to asthma and hay fever. There are different types. Hope you have a good doc.
Try herbal anti-eczema cream from http://www.champori.com
It works or it’s free (money back policy)
Hi,
I’ve read that shea butter works well. You need to make sure though that you are using an unrefined butter. Refined shea butter, like any other natural substance is stripped of most of it’s beneficial nutrients when refined. I’ve used shea butter and it’s heavy, but you can get whipped shea butter too. There is a site called unrefinedsheabutter.com that was helpful to me.

Eczema takes some mending. The problem is of course internal: the skin only exhibits the internal contradiction. For a start take your sister off all foods and feed her basic veggies…one at a time. Add as you go on and note the reactions. That takes time. Persevere.
A homoeopathic doctor I know (in Cape Town) puts down all eczema problems to the injections that people receive when they’re young….like innoculations against smallpox, chicken pox, measles, polio. He adduces a very strong argument supporting his diagnosis. The aetology of his diagnosis is that such innoculations leave residual titres that do not find settlement in the body and thus must be rejected. This is a slow and protracted process. This phenomenon is the principle causative factor of eczema.
Could be almost anything from diet to environment causing the problem. But I have had great skin healing success with a new lotion on the market called "Gloves in a Bottle" it wasn’t designed to heal but it is really a miracle. Check out their web site http://www.glovesinabottle.com. send me your address and I’ll send you a sample. lynarts@flash.net
Eczema is a combination deal, part atopic (allergy) part climate. Humidity is your friend in the form of a cool mist humidifier, ideal range is 30-50% for humans. (some humidifiers come w/agranometers w/sensor measures humidity in air). Any unscented, sensitive skin lotion works. Curel does last 24 hrs. Her skin needs to breathe, after using harsh products and begin to function on its own. No oils, pore clogging and may causes rashes too. Save heavy stuff for night time. Aquaphor=nightime or really rough areas only. It clogs pores. Baths, Aveeno Oatmeal Bath or generic version. Short 10 min. warm soaks 2x/day, pat dry, apply lotion/cream immediately after. 1000 % soft cotton clothing-it breathes too. My favorite, ALL Allergy free formula, it works. Forget sanitizing, in an abnormally clean environment she’ll never adapt to the real world. Hopefully she’ll have lots of friends and be able to play, even outside!
Febreeze…hmnn…all my children as well as myself couldn’t handle it. Yep, a whole family of atopic persons and even sons’ new girlfriend as well. May need to do a pet check. Some peopel are simply allergic to them.
