Do you know of anything over the counter that I could use that would help my son’s eczema? He is 3 years old and has lots of allergies. I have to take him back to the allergist but in the meantime, any suggestions?

Oh, bless his heart.
Talk to your pharmacist. They can recommend something off the shelf that’s effective, and often not even the most expensive.
They’d know best what’s available to you, explain how to use it for a child, and you could walk right out with it.
Otherwise, you could try tea tree oil, which is very healing.
pinetarsol will work also calamine lotion or just plain old sorbelene cream
I have eczema and have found that putting some (uncooked) oatmeal in the tub is soothing. Try not to have the water very hot. The heat tends to draw out that itchy rash. I’d definitely stay away from anything scented.
My sister and I both had severe eczema as children and my mother bathed us in Aveeno oatmeal bathes. They are great because oatmeal is a natural way to soothe itches and prevent irritation and inflammation.
For treatment of the actual disease, try Elidel for mild to moderate rashes. For more severe rashes ask your dermatologist for a compound. These tend to be more concentrated and work a lot better that Elidel, which is pretty commonly prescribed.
Also, try to keep your son away from foods with dairy and eggs, as those tend to aggravate the problem.
when my daughter had it i learned that aloevera from the plant itself, and sunlight was the best cure…not sunbathing…but allowing the sun rays to be ont he child and the aloe vera…and sure enough it went away and has never been back….and the docs just tell you there is no cure and give you expensive creams…and be patient and playful to ease the childs stress…and dont’be going around all worried loooking and all with him….just calm down…the aloe and sun will do the trick…and no harsh soaps in the bath ….oatmeal soap from the health food store was also recommmended but only once a day before bed…the less chemicals the better…
Oatmeal bath or have you heard of or tried Arbonne the childrens (babies) line is endorsed by our pediatrician -
worth trying I have friends who swear it helps their eczema (the baby line or Intelligence) it’s pure and all natural -
i would like to suggest that you should avoid the things that cause eczema outbreaks, as well as, allergens such as dust and foods. always keep your child hydrated, let him avoid drinking fluids that can will not cause dehydration like diuretics. use hypoallergenic bath soap or use all natural skin care products, this can relieve them from itching and pain. also try to find out eczema treatments by using this link http://www.skinoriginal.com as an aid to eczema relief.
