This seems unusual. Typically the diaper area is the only place a child with eczema does NOT have a problem because of something about the urine (have lots of experience with this). Urine is sometimes used to treat the skin (gross, but there's much research on it). I'm guessing that he is allergic to something in the diapers or something you are putting on him for it to be in that area.

I would try cloth diapers (they say they are much better than they used to be). When you wash them put them thru a 2nd wash cycle of only water.

Dove soap always worked best to wash the skin (they have sensitive skin soap). Also, it's best to really wash the affected area (not wash less) to get rid of dead skin cells. The chlorine in a swimming pool is actually good for the skin. So much so that we used small amounts of it in the tub (check w/ physician for proper amount).

Crisco is safe to use to moisturize (has no alcohol, perfume, pretty basic). On occasion use triple antiobiotic cream to promote healing.

Take off the diaper and let the air get to his bottom. Put cornstarch on the bottom, but, truly, let the air get to his bottom. He's allergic to something if it is eczema, and you need to find out what it is. Is it milk? MANY children with eczema are allergic to milk. Look at his eyes..........are there dark circles under them? Does his nose seem congested? Normally, that means a milk allergy.

My son had same problem, but on hes shin , and then he started having it on hes butt area, I also used bunch of creams and lotions but did not work, saw hes doctor and prescribed him nystatin cream for hes butt. But i also used
A+D rash cream, you can get the in any grocery store like safeway. It works really well. and I used the Nystatin Morning and night or after diaper change. It went away:) it took awhile though but it did go away. Also don't use any soap/babywipes on the area, I just rinsed hes butt with warm water and wetted the paper towel to use as wipes and pat dry the butt really well with a soft towel then put the ointment on it.

Goodluck:)

use all natural skin care moisturizer, apply it to the affected area. this can keep the skin from getting dry and irritated. oh no soaps can be very irritation to the skin and it can add up to eczema condition.

know the possible things that can trigger eczema and avoid it. avoid putting on clothes that can irritate the skin like rough, tight and scratchy clothes. avoid perfumed skin care products, avoid scratching the affected area, avoid skin allergens and irritants.

let the child have a balanced diet with loads of fresh fruits and vegetables to be able to strengthen immune system and fight skin diseases.
