My baby is 5 months old his had eczema on his face for a couple of months now, side of his face was infected, its gotten better with the help of an antibiotic cream and sigmacort cream which is a hydrocortisone cream, however he is always still itchy , after moisturising with Dermeveen lotion its like it flared up more can this be the case. His breastfed, can it be my diet? What can i do that will stop his itchness?

If it’s really bad I’d stick to the sigmacort cream. Dermaveen didn’t work very well with me and it stinks. Use the sigmacort cream repeatedly for a 2-3 days and apply it regularly and then take a day off before reapplying again
When giving a bath use no soap products.
Unfortunately there’s no cure with eczema they flare up now and then and is worse during winter.
I have eczema and I was told it’s either eczema or asthma. And my kids had eczema but they’re much better now compared to when they were born. Just be careful they don’t scratch or make it worse or it’ll scar
It’s worth keeping a diary of what you eat and checking it against when his skin is worse. My friend’s baby was wheezy on and off, and eventually she narrowed it down to it was always the day after she ate tomatoes (she was breastfeeding). She stopped eating tomatoes and no more wheezy baby.
But be wary of restricting your diet, especially while breastfeeding. You need the nutrients.
i understand how it feels to be under your shoe. having eczema can be frustrating experience because sadly it has no cure. but the good news is that there are ways to prevent it. just follow these tips:
- Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. Always keep a lotion or cream on your skin.
- take a short, cool, shower and bath
- use soap sparingly
- don’t be abrasive, avoid scrubbing the skin
- avoid detergents, cleansers and solvents
- cool it off, keep temperature a few degrees lower to keep the skin moist
- avoid to much alcohol
- choose unscented skin care products
- watch out diet and have balanced diet with fruits and vegetables
- avoid smoking and alcohol drinking
- avoid scratching the affected area.
- keep fingernails short.
- try not do things and activities that can make you sweat.
- wear clothes that are loose and with cotton and soft fabric

I was convinced my daughter had eczema, yet it turns out it was an allergy to soy. We tried absolutely everything before we finally found the culprit. You may want to keep a journal of what you eat and experiment removing certain foods for a period of a week. It took about that long for the difference to appear in my daughter, but the rash never returned. Every case is very individual. Several things that helped:
-Mango Butter
-Aloe
-Plain Oatmeal (in a sock) added to bath
-ErbaOrganics baby products
-Organic Clothing
-Food Journal
