Is a child who has eczema more likely to have asthma?

My youngest 2yo boy has recently been diagnosed with eczema. A mother in my Mother’s Group said that it is only a matter of time before he gets asthma. Is this true??
Is there anything I can do to stop him getting asthma?

I had eczema for the first 21 years of my life and my daughter had for from 5 months of age and neither of us developed Asthma. My cousin also had severe eczema for a long time and never developed Asthma. There is no proof that if you have eczema that you will develop Asthma, however just be aware of the signs of Asthma just to be on the safe side. Contact your local Asthma Foundation.
