We have a 3 years old child with Eczema, for the last two years we would only sleep for 3 to 4 hours most at night ! Seeing our child Scratching all night and not getting the sleep that he needs just kill us. We tried everything from creame and medication. Is there any other safe options in helping our 3 years old to rest at night?

A friend of mine has a child with neurodermitis. She has a special medicine bath for the evening and a special sleeping suit (the seams are outside, it is made of a very expensive material – if I remember right it was some kind of microfibre covered with a metal) – it stopped the itching and is so soft that the skin is protected.
Try to find a doctor who specialised in these topics for children, she or he will know what you can try.
I feel with you – not getting your sleep at night is a serious problem. Hope you get help soon.
Have you tried colloidal oatmeal bath treatments? I believe the product is called Alveno Bath. I have tried it during the winter is when I get it. It works for me.
Have you taken her to a doctor to see if it is due to some sort of allergy?
There are many factors involve that can cause this condition.
This will sound weird, but the derm I used to work for recommended slathering the skin with Crisco (yes, what you use for cooking – but not the butter flavor!) and covering the skin with plastic wrap for several hours a day – perhaps overnight if possible. Don’t use soap on the child, just warm water baths. Moisturize him with Cetaphil OFTEN.
Eczema is a form of allergies, so he might benefit from taking Benadryl at night to keep the itching down and help him sleep. PLUS…he will probably grow out of it when he gets older. Hang in there.
I had eczema as a child; my mom put gloves on my hands, which I learned to take off as I got older. I’d keep my nails short, and sometimes I’d wear latex gloves since they were harder for me to take off subconsciously. I’d also ice my eczema or slap it when it was itchy. I only wore 100% cotton clothes and used Aveeno soap/lotion. When I was a teenager my dermatologist prescribed a steroid cream and a non-steroid cream and I sort of alternated in between those so my skin wouldn’t thin too much. It got a lot better after that.
Have you taken him to a dermatologist? The solution might be simple.
Also take him to an internist & have them test for Lupus. Reason: A dermatologist can treat for Excema & not get any results. If he’s diagnosed wth Lupus (Excema is a typical symptom), they can treat him for Lupus and his excema will be relieved.
Good luck and God bless you & your son.
Silica. *Food Grade* Diatomaceous Earth is high in silica.
Silica is great for hair, nails, lung & vascular tissue…
and skin (among other things).
FGDE is fossilized diatom shells.
My family takes Fossil Shell Flour FGDE–we just started.
It’s sold at some animal feed stores, not all.
Not many people know of its health benefits.
But exzema is listede as one problem that it can help.
There are several Web sites about it, & several testimonials, regarding both to animals & humans who have taken it.
(My husband has exzema & has been using several things from the dr, & some from friends. But he’s still got it, after several months. It’ll be interesting to see what the FGDE does for it!
It is FDA approved for feeding to animals.
It is NOT the kind of DE that causes silicosis!!!
It is reported to have many health benefits that make sense to me. It is not expensive, & has many other uses.)
