How can i heal my baby boy’s eczema?

i have a baby boy about 18 months old and he has mild eczema spots all over his body. the doctor prescribed hydrocortizone and it helps but you can still see the discoloration in his skin specially when he tans on his arms and legs. what can i do to stop it or will he just grow out of it?

This is usually one of those things that all your can do is try to find something that helps and wait for him to outgrow it. This is something that often isn’t just cured overnight. Giving him baths that are tepid and not long baths with some soothing aveeno or oatmeal helps. When his skin is still damp from the bath rub in a lot of cream and keep his clothing loose and light. heat makes it worse and so does tight clothing. All cotton clothing helps a lot.
By the way my daughter has excema as a baby and I have taken care of quite a few babies with it. One little guy had it so bad, but finally at the age of 2 he outgrew it. His was so bad he would bleed.
he may always have it =you gotta keep using the cream when it flares up and keep using oil to keep the skin soft when things are okay =good luck =this is a hard thing to keep under control
The cream usually does work but little babys also have skin discoloration for the first couple of years. Check the spots every once in a while and see if they lighten up in the next couple of months.Call a pediatrion
Don’t dry him after his bath and put on baby oil, is not going to cure the eczema but it will ease the uncomfortable symptoms….this is pretty common in babies so I think it will get better..good luck.
My nephew had eczema as a baby and my sister would rub him down with vasaline after his bath. It was messy but it worked. Put loose pj’s on too. Good luck.
My son also has Eczema. He started getting flare ups when he was about a year old. We did the cream too, thats really the only thing to do. Your sons eczema might slow down as he gets older like my son did. Mines 11 now and he dosent get break out hardly at all. Good Luck.
Eczema is a chronic condition that tends to run in families. It does tend to disappear in some people as they get older and then return later in life. Keeping the skin well moisturized and reducing stress along with several prescription medications can improve things but the underlying tendency to have flare ups remains.You may see a marked improvement as he moves from infancy to puberty . Strangely enough, pool water tends to help some eczema, but sun exposure does not, so use the sun block.
Discoloration will go away with time. Your baby will most likely grow out of eczema as well (like most other babies). Try not to overuse hydrocortizone: it is steroids and they have side-effects that are worse than eczema.
