My son is three months old and about a month ago I started feeding him formula while I was at school and breast feed him when I am home. About two weeks ago he came up with a pretty bad case of eczema, could this be showing up now because he is not getting as many antibodies from my breast milk as he was before or is this just coincidence?

I think you should ask the doctor more questions about the formula that you are giving him cause i was talking to crystal and telling her… and she asked if you were still nursing and i told her he was on boobies and formula and she said that caleb had it pretty bad to on formula and she said you really should consider good start! idk y but may be you should talk to her. does he still spit up a lot? oh and she thinks it awesome that you take him to the ciro! she says it help sooooooooooooooo much with caleb she might not have made it through his first 2 years
well call me when you get up
Skin conditions such as eczema, are largely genetic. They also are commonly connected to respiratory issues so keep an eye on that. I breastfed boy my kids exclusively and my youngest still has asthma and had mild eczema for the first couple of years.
Are you positive it is eczema? Like a doctor diagnosed it? If not, it could just be Cradle Cap which many babies get.
Eczema isn’t influenced by antibodies. The protection that breastfeeding provides against eczema has to do with less exposure to allergins, not the antibodies. (Which protect against germs and viruses.)
The eczema could be due to the formula (an allergy to something in it), or some other change. (Have you switched detergents?)
Eczema is common in babies. It has nothing to do with the antibodies. My second baby got really bad eczema. Turned out she has an allergen to lactose. It got to the point where it went from her armpit up to the top of her head before I finally got a doctor to figure out what it was. Put her on lactose free formula and the "eczema" went away.
It usually happened to babies either from birth or anytime after 3 months my doctor said that is hormones coming out. That happened to my son but since i wasn’t to sure i just stop formula feeding and continued bfeeding i believed that it help him alot. Have your doctor check him and determine it for you.
Eczema is a common skin condition in babies. Alot of them get it, even if it’s mild and just looks like dry skin.
It has nothing to do with how you are feeding your baby.
My son got it even while he was breastfed.
My neighbor is also breastfeeding and her daughter has a horrible case of eczema. She has to have prescribed ointment.
