For about 8 years i have a very dry eczema in both hands. It itches like hell. Several doctors told me that there is no cure for it and all i can do is to minimize the symptoms. The best combination so far was a cortisone cream called Diprosone together with Eucerin Ph5. What i would like to know is if did anyone ever managed to cure the eczema after so many years having it? I am getting a bit desperate because i need to be so careful with everything i use and i do not always have the time so my hands are really bad at this moment. And the worst is that in one side it is spreading to the arm..

I have had eczema all my life since I was a little girl and it had been gone for a while. Lately, it has spiked again and I haven’t changed anything with my lotion or daily routines. I have noticed that I have been having depression like symptoms (My own friends have commented on my feelings and behavior often recently). Could my eczema spike be related to my emotions?
Please answer in anyway you can. Real life experience stories of this would be great as well.
Thank you for any help that you can give.

I’ve had dyshidrotic eczema since I was a teenager, all the pictures of it I’ve come across are just like what I have, the description is identical as well, that’s why I assume my Dr. is convinced. The only thing is that everything I’ve read and been told about dyshidrotic eczema states that it is not contagious. I figured it must be hereditary then because other than myself, 3 of my siblings have it, my mother, and one of my children. But about 3 years ago my husband started to get it too, and now my mother’s boyfriend is freaking out because he has the same fluid filled itchy bumps on teh sides of his feet now. What are the odds that everyone around us happens to carry it too without it being contagious? Or is it possible that this isn’t dyshidrotic eczema at all, and it’s actually something else that IS contagious with the exact same symptoms?
Thanks for the responses, but what I’m really interested in finding out, is why most people in my family have developed this problem including people who live in our homes that are not blood related. If dyshidrotic eczema is not all that common, then how is it that we all have it? Or could it in fact be something else instead that IS contagious?

My daughter, now 14 months, began symptoms at 9 months on her eyelids. It began after we came home from a trip to Disney, so we thought maybe it was due to sudden weather changes or some crazy infection from traveling or water change. But it persisted. We thought it may be an allergy so we did a deep home cleansing, used all green cleaning products, anti allergy laundry soaps, made the cat live outside and banned the dog from all rooms but the front porch, all with no relief. Used otc petroleum/mineral oil ointment with a little satisfaction at first, but then nothing. Cleansed eyes with baby soap. Pinned hair up to keep it out of her eyes and scrubbed her hands clean as though she were a girl in a bubble. Still no relief. On severe days she ends up with "shiners". The eyelids will pink, then purple, get shiny and sometimes get dusty dryness. They irritate her as she will rub at them like she is tired. I live in the northeast, she started in March, it’s now August and the weather changes have not made any difference as far as level of irritation. The symptoms subside during sleep and graduate after she wakes up. Then on to 3 pediatrician visits, and one pediatric opthalmologist visit, to find out that it’s eczema. She was written an rx for Tobradex which is a steroid ointment (tobramycin w/ dexamethasone) and it cleared. We were told if it didn’t clear it up then they would prescribe an oral steroid. It did work, however upon completion of the prescribed period of time and voila, it’s returning, as would a completion of an oral steroid regimen. Has anyone found a more natural approach to daily treatment? Is it worth consulting with a dermatologist? As discussed in this message reel, persistent use of steroid ointments increase blood flow to the eyes and can cause permanent damage. I want an effective and safe treatment plan. To those out there suffering from eczema my heart goes out to you.

daughter was born she had asthma and eczema. For the parents that have children with these symptoms, you know that life for me and my daughter was pure torture. The doctors were giving me everything they thought would cure my daughter of these drastic symptoms. By the time my daughter was two years old I had taken her to 6 different doctors for a total of 43 Dr. visit for the same thing, eczema and asthma. Mind you these doctors are suppose to be the best. The doctors put her on the nebulizer for breathing and she has been hospitalized 7 times due to asthma attacks. My daughter and I were exhausted and I cried every day because I thought there was nothing I could do. I started using this special soap and lotion ordered from a catalog. My daughter is now 4 years old and she is free from eczema and asthma. I was slowly killing my daughter because I was using dangerous household cleansers and prescribed medicines like Bleach,Tilex,Protopic,Elidel, etc. 4 more email me wisdom_women@yahoo.co

Looking for pills, I’ve had enough of creams and other topical treatments.
Are there any pills that can control itching, reduce inflammation(which would be very mild), or perhaps even make all/most symptoms diminish altogether?

If so,
how old is your child?
what type of allergies and symptoms does s/he have?
what are the results?
which probiotics do you use?
Any info would be appreciated.

Hi a friend of mine is desperate he found out he was allergic to dogs and his skin along with all other allergy symptoms has what looks like to be eczema. Has anyone ever experienced this before and how long does it take for it to go away.
