Any ideas how to treat Eczema with home remedies?
My 9yr. daughter has Eczema but never had it flare up this bad. I will not use anything with steroids in it. Right now we are doing Aveeno baths and using Aveeno lotion. She just came back from a trip to Northern Idaho to see relatives and after she came home it flared up real bad. A drastic change in weather is usually what gets it going but never this bad. She has it on her neck and has never had it there before. She just came home last night. The only difference in weather from there to here is it is drier there and a little warmer. I hope to get some ideas from other parents or people that have Eczema.

I also suffer from eczema. Do her relatives use a different kind of laundry detergent that would have been on the bed linens? I use the all free and clear. It has no dyes or perfumes. I also use dove unscented soap and Johnson’s tear free baby body wash and shampoo. I take luke warm/cool baths to not bring any unwanted flare ups. I also stay out of the grass and try not to get over heated which may cause me to itch on my arms and back.
I have it on my legs, arms, face and back. The only thing that has ever totally gotten rid of the rash is tanning in a tanning bed. But I am also not a big fan of skin cancer and your daughter is too young.
But above are some things that made me deal with it a little better.
My son has had bad exzema since…well, as along as I can remember. We’ve tried everything. It seems as long as we keep his skin hydrated (we put a thick coat of vaseline on his skin every night) we can avoid bad break outs. When they do get awful, we head straight to our favorite natural foods store for a remedy.
Hi, Use epson salt and she must not scratch. Then use a light coating of lubiderm lotion. Keep her cool when she sleeps with a light sheet.
My 4 month old has eczema really bad as well so I’m interested as to waht people have to say as well. Her doctor prescribed a hydrating gel called Hylira and it only made her worse. Her skin felt awful when I put it on and it made her skin blood red. 50 bucks for that.
My mom told me hydrocortizone but I don’t want to use that since shes a baby. And I think it has steroids in it.
My babys doctor also said to keep something on it like vaseline. Anything greasy. And aveeno baths.
My 2 year old has extremely bad eczema..so bad that his skin cracks and bleeds and he doesnt sleep at night because it hurts him (something most doctors dont tell you its often flared by an allergy…try to find out what that allergy could be..40 percent of kids that have it..its caused by food)I refuse to use steroid creams as well
have her put vaseline on after a shower..and get dressed in a long sleeve shirt..pants and socks
makes sure she showers daily….it gets the allergens off of her! dont do what most people tell you and not bathe her
go pick up a tube of POLYSPORIN..and put it on her bad spots
of course use a "free" laundry soap and "free" fabric softener
the line of eucerin works decently
give her a bit of bendryl for the itching..a lot of the times eczema will look worse then it is because of the scratching
cortaid advance works good on the bad spots
cetaphil CREAM works great
get her shampoo and conditioner and body wash from a health food store..or an organic store..they carry scent free dye free soaps..
use creams rather then lotions because they are thicker and stay on longer
Eucerin works really well. Also there is this lotion that my grandma puts on my cousin, It is body Pruf Skin Aid. He is allergic to everything and this is the only thing that helps him. None of the medications or steroids help him. I Swear by this stuff as well, because when i get burnt or get a bee sting it helps out instantly.

I know what you mean by the dryer air, we live in Utah
Put oatmeal in the foot of a pair of tights and put this whole thing into the bath when you are filling it up. You can use it as a sponge when she is batheing as well.
Don’t use any fragranced lotions.
If you can, get an aloe vera plant, and use its sap as a cream on the really sore bits.
it helped me to have lots of baths to keep the skin hydrated and vasaline works well too.ive never tried it but ive heard natural yougart can help cools?
Put cortizone cream or vasiline on it after bath made with oatmeal mixed in…you have to get them surgicaly froze off (which doesn’t hurt too bad) and get a medicine from your doctor. I had it really bad, it would bleed during the day and at night, so we got it frozen off, and it works, just like worts.
Does your daughter have allergies by any chance? Eczema is usually a good indicator of such. Wal-Mart and Target both sell a product called "Baby Naturals Eczema Cream", it has Winnie the Pooh on it and it works better than Vaseline or even topical steroids. You may want to check with her doctor about a daily allergy medication like Zyrtec or even over the counter Claritin. I used to give my son Benadryl at bedtime to help with his eczema. I also use Lye soap in lieu of Aveeno. I know, you’re thinking it LYE !! But it actually does not have Lye in as it has been processed and it is actually one of the purest and cleanest types of hypoallergenic soaps around. There are very few chemicals, no detergents or perfumes in it. You can research it online for yourself, but it saved my poor son alot of agony.( that and the oral allergy medication his ped put him on ) His always got alot worse in the wintertime.Keep her water temp luke warm, give her showers instead of baths, the shorter in duration the better. me and my daughter both have this also. use eucerin!!! you can ever use the walmart brand of it. use it twice a day and if the itching is driving her crazy use hydrocortisone. but use the eucerin twice a day. once after bathing of coarsse
