My 5 month old daughter developed a dry red like rash patches on her arms. I bought her aveeno products, lotion and bath wash to help. It has been a few days and it has not gotten any better, is there something else I should do?

My chest area is covered in dry round patches while my stomach is covered in red bumps. My eczema always flares up during pregnancy and stress. Now I know the best cure is Petrolatum but I really don’t want to feel like a sticky, greasy, ball of goop. Is there something else that’ll work? My sister recommended Cetaphil while there’s rave reviews about Aquaphor. Which works best? Is there something else that works better?

so….I am thinking of taking him off dairy products for 2 weeks to see if his eczema symptoms improve. What are some good dairy alternatives that do not include soy ?? Thanks!

Both of my children have eczema. I’m sure if you have it too, you know the whole barrage of things you try that don’t work or don’t work well enough. I try not to use their steriod cream unless I have to which is often. I don’t want to use Protopic or Elidel b/c of the recent discussion of possibly causing cancer. I don’t want to treat them for something now to trade for something far worse in the future! What do you use or do that has been the "magic trick"? Any other non steroidal creams?

Ok, I know that many things like the wrong soap, detergents, or even allergies can cause eczema but why does it occur?
What happens in your body? What causes the inflammation? Why does it itch?
"The exact cause of eczema is unknown, but it’s thought to be linked to an overactive response by the body’s immune system to a bacterium that normally lives on the skin or an irritant." – quote from http://www.webmd.com/allergies/guide/eczema
does anyone have a better answer than ^ that?
How do the doctors know how to treat a patient if they don’t know the main causes (technical ones of course) of eczema?
no i mean how it WORKS
…medically…..thanks anyways

When you swim does your skin break out. Is it from the harsh chemicals in the pool, dirtiness, bacteria??? I always get bad eczema around my waist like red welts a few days after I swim at the gym. I can’t swim that often because of it.
